Praise the Orthodox Lord

Nothing beats homemade baked goods... And box cake mixes do not count as homemade to me. Had some kick ass oatmeal spice cake at St Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church ethnic featival. Soooo damn good. Def will be going again next year solely for that cake. I should ask the woman to adopt me so she would make the cake for me... Hmmm looks like I'm going orthodox.

I know... Not a dessert but come on... Love that eastern European food!!!

Pizza for breakfast

I am slightly disappointed the chocolate pizza wasn't as good for breakfast. Maybe I should have had a chocolate banana island martini this morning and than it would! I am left wondering how I feel about the "crust." It leaves an interesting taste in you mouth. It's still worth the try though!

Max Brenners

Skip the food and go straight for dessert! no seriously the food was good but not that impressive. I wish I just ate a third dessert instead. Yeah I said third, which means I had two desserts. I couldn't decide so I went with both of my choices. Grant it a half of bottle of chardonay and the beginnings of a chocolate banana island martini help me decide to just get both desserts.

I started off with the Snow White heart cake. I really don't remember what was in it, but it was damn good. Oh my god.... Soooooo amazing. Than second dessert so chocolate pizza. What a freakin great combo!!!! Chocolate and pizza... It was actually chocolate, crunchy pieces and marshmellow on a pastry crust, which actually tasted kind of like the crust of pizza. No way could one person eat a whole pizza, just one slice filling. I'm hoping this pizza is just as a good cold and for breakfast just like regular pizza!!

The place itself is impressive. I told the bus boy they need a huge fireplace in the center and then this place would be perfect. How perfect... Sipping on a warm mocha and eatting a chocolate pizza by an open fire while snow gently falls outsides. I really didn't feel like I was at a restaurant in Philadelphia!!

I can't wait to go back and try some of their hot chocolates!

Here's what I recommend... Go with someone, split one dessert as an appetizer and have a martini than finish with individual desserts with some cocoa or coffee with a shot of liquor.... Oh yeah.

Yeah it was that good that I had to lick the bowl... I was about to lick the whole plate.

Pie in the Sky

Part of my desserting is to have special feature on pies from local diners. What better way to kick the special pie blog than with a pie tasting happy hour!

Last Thursday Dann and I attended Tavern on Camac's Manna Pie In the Sky pie tasting happy hour! Disarano on the rocks and pie, what could be finer!

Choices included apple, southern pecan, pumpkin, sweet potato and a non pie... Cheesecake with chocolate. I was excited to taste the pecan pie because that is personally one of my favorites. I must say that the pecan pie, although tasty, didn't have enough pecans for my liking. I like my nuts.

The apple pie was quite applely.

The sweet potato taste a tad like the pumpkin.

I have yet to decide which I will buy. I have a feeling I will stick with the pecan.

Flying Monkey

Enjoyed a lavender cupcake and hot cocoa w/shot of espresso at Flying Monkey Deuce. I got the "white" cake Lavender icing cupcake. I was a tad disappointed, it was more like a pound cake. The icing which was actually lavender flavored left me baffled. It was good but because it was lavender flavored I felt like I was eatting flowers or perfume. Needless to say I still ate and enjoyed it. I would say it would be worth a try in the end.

John got a Mint Chocolate Chip chocolate cupcake. That was yummy.

Pretty basic cupcakes, nothing too too impressive.
